Teams Who Should Be Watching Kyler Murray

Three teams who will be monitoring the status of Kyler Murray moving forward.

The Arizona Cardinals are thrilled to be getting their franchise quarterback Kyler Murray back this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons off his season-ending ACL tear from last year.

It's a very exciting time for Cardinals fans, who could have perhaps enjoyed more than one victory this season if not for its quarterback play.

Of course, Cards fans won't be the only ones watching. After all, the Cardinals are currently in possession of the 2024 NFL Draft's number one overall pick with a generational quarterback prospect in Caleb Williams waiting to be drafted. It's a very tempting situation that makes the Murray situation very confusing.

This is why other teams should be looking into Murray's return this weekend. If the Cardinals were to reach any sort of crossroads that could result in Murray being traded, it would make sense for a few teams to keep tabs on potentially adding the Pro Bowl quarterback.

It's a quarterback rich draft upcoming, but these three teams stand out as ones who should take a special interest in monitoring Murray's return:

Atlanta Falcons

I truly believe the Falcons are a quarterback away from being a dynamic offense - provided they get a head coach that knows how to call an offense. The team has one of the most talented tight ends in the league, a running back whose potential is through the roof, and a wide receiver more than capable of being a top target.

All that's missing is a good quarterback.

This would be a terrific landing spot for Murray. There are several dynamic weapons for him to use that would instantly give this offense the juice they need. The Falcons aren't far off from the playoffs if for no other reason than because of the division they play in, and adding Murray would drastically increase their chances.

Plus, they get to see him in person this weekend!

Las Vegas Raiders

Unlike the Falcons, the Raiders are a bit of a mess on offense. Yes, the team currently has Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs, but neither is guaranteed to be on the roster beyond this season. This makes playing quarterback for this team a little bit worrisome.

However, the Raiders are going to be getting new leadership after canning Josh McDaniels and a great opportunity would present itself for a new regime to square away their quarterback and instead focus on building up the roster.

Murray could also be what keeps Adams and Jacobs in Las Vegas. Win-win.

New England Patriots

Ah, the Patriots. Once the gold standard of the league, they are now the laughing stock of the NFL, and pedestrian quarterback play has been at the forefront of those issues. The Pats are staring down the barrel of a top-10, maybe even top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so they could be fine with drafting a rookie signal caller.

That being said, I believe Bill Belichick to be devious enough to want to roll with a proven veteran after the failure of the Mac Jones experiment and Murray fits that bill. While on the surface a marriage between Belichick and Murray seems a bit strange, at the end of the day I have little doubt the two wouldn't mesh together just fine.
