Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon Ripped By Eagles Player on Twitter

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon recently received shots from one of his former Philadelphia Eagles players.

New Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon was at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday and was asked questions about how the team he was defensive coordinator for - the Philadelphia Eagles - lost Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Specifically, Gannon was asked about how the Eagles allowed 24 points in the second half as the team blew a 10-point halftime lead.

In response, the 40-year-old head coach said, “[The Chiefs] made a lot of good plays in that second half. We weren’t able to get some stops when we needed to. I obviously could have done a better job of coaching a couple things that I want out of the calls."

That clip of his answer didn't sit well with Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who tweeted, "You ain’t put us in position to make plays.”

Gardner-Johnson would then delete the tweet and write another post, saying, "Going back to sleep."

The 25-year-old safety, who joined the Eagles prior to the 2022 season, is set to be a free agent later in the month.

Gannon was the coordinator of a Philly defense that allowed the second-fewest yards during the 2022 season. In that timeframe, Gardner-Johnson led the NFL in interceptions with six in 12 games.

Shortly after the Eagles' loss in the Super Bowl, Gannon took the Cardinals' head coaching job.

It's hard to envision Gardner-Johnson joining forces with Gannon after the safety's latest jab at his former defensive coordinator on social media.
