Emergency Podcast: Kyler Murray's Return is Here

The Arizona Cardinals are set to welcome the talents of Kyler Murray back to the fold.

ARIZONA -- The return is here.

The Arizona Cardinals have long awaited the return of quarterback Kyler Murray. Now, it appears to be happening.

Murray has been sidelined for 11 months with a torn ACL and meniscus, and names such as Colt McCoy, Clayton Tune and Joshua Dobbs have been at the helm of Arizona's offense through various points of 2023.

The Cardinals are just 1-8 through nine weeks of play but have slowly waited for Murray to reach 100%. Knowing what's at stake for both the short and long-term, Arizona didn't want to rush their franchise quarterback from such a significant injury.

Now - however - Murray is in line to start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 - here's our reaction:

Jonathan Gannon seemed pretty excited for Murray's return.

"It’s fun to be around him at practice," said Gannon. "He’s ultra-competitive and wants to play football, but everything that he’s been doing up until this point to get himself ready to go both on and off the field— rehab with the health stuff and with the mental stuff about playing quarterback—he’s far exceeded my expectations right now.”

When asked what he wants to see out of Murray mentally and physically this week at practice, he responded with:

“I think everything, honestly. I just want to see him practice again and see how he progresses through the week and things like that. To get him all the reps with the ones, I think that’s kind of the last step and then playing in a game is another step in the process of coming back from a major injury and not playing football for a while.

"We’ve got to be willing to understand that it might not look like Kyler. I think he’s got a good expectation of that, and the coaches have a good expectation of that, but I know this – he’s going to come out there, play his game and help us win.”
