One of your Los Angeles Chargers' most impactful offseason hires may be a new sideline addition: offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, fresh from the Dallas Cowboys' 12-5 season, where he helped pilot the team's offensive attack behind quarterback Dak Prescott.

Today, Sam Farmer of The Los Angeles Times unveiled a first round mock draft that allowed beat reporters for each respective NFL team selecting (there are only 31 this year, as the Miami Dolphins lost their first rounder due to a tampering penalty) to make picks they felt would be a good fit.

When it comes to the Bolts, drafting honors fell to The Los Angeles Times' Jeff Miller, a Chargers beat reporter. He promptly chose University of Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid, and discussed exactly how well Kincaid could fit in the team's new system under Moore.

"The Chargers can’t have enough offensive playmakers in their attempt to outscore Kansas City and end the Chiefs’ reign in the AFC West," Miller writes. "Kincaid gives them a threat to exploit the seams in new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s scheme."

The 6'4", 240-pound senior spent his first two collegiate seasons with the University of San Diego Toreros, where as a sophomore he was named an Associated Press FCS All-American and an All-Pioneer Football League Second Teamer.

Kincaid transferred to Utah ahead of the 2020 season, which of course was abbreviated by the pre-vaccine days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his final season with the Utes, he was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team. Overall, Utah enjoyed a terrific 10-3 2022 NCAA season, making it all the way to the Rose Bowl, where the club ultimately fell 48-45 to the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
