Chargers News: Writer Worried Kellen Moore May Botch Matchup Against Cowboys

Certainly will be something to watch for...

As Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore gets ready to take on his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, there could be some extra motivation going on. Dallas let Moore go at the end of last season, and the Bolts quickly picked him up to take over their open coordinator position.

Now, with the two teams matching up on national TV, Moore may have a chip on his shoulder. He hasn't admitted it and has even tried to downplay the matchup. But it's human nature to want to one-up someone who overlooked you, so this will be something to watch.

But one writer believes that if he does have an ax to grind against Dallas, it could end up hurting the Chargers at some point.

“One of the main criticisms of Kellen Moore as an offensive coordinator is that he wants to flex a little bit, for lack of a better term. Moore is a creative play-caller and likes to make sure you know it, incorporating trick plays with weeks of buildup into the gameplan and ensuring he calls every play on the call sheet at least once.”

The Chargers need to approach this game against the Cowboys with a sense of desperation. They can't afford to drop another game this early in the season if they want to stay relevant in the postseason chase. So, Moore must keep his emotions in check as the game progresses.

“Against his former team, the one whose head coach lambasted Moore for wanting to light up the scoreboard rather than keep the ball secure and win games ugly, it’s not too far of a stretch to think Moore wants to peacock a little extra on Monday night.”

This will undoubtedly be something to watch as the game progresses on Monday because Moore may want to show the Cowboys up. He has a better quarterback in Los Angeles, and he knows it. But the Chargers can't have him showboating with the offense, and they need to come in prepared to win the game, even if it's ugly.
